Hit The Lights

It was way to warm out to remain indoors Friday evening, so we went up to Northampton for a walk around in the fog.

We pulled into the parking lot behind Starbucks, and found we had just missed some kind of film being shown outside, on the flatbed of a trailer truck.

Outside the Haymarket Cafe there was a throng of people coming and going.

There was an art show going on inside. We debated waiting in line to get in and see, but decided against it, in favor of continuing the walk...

The lights are out for the holiday season, and the thick fog served as a misty backdrop...

It was nice to be able to finish out the work week with a stroll around outside, in comfortable temperatures, especially this late in the year. And a nice place to do it.

Just another night in Paradise City, as they call it...

Your photos capture an exciting atmosphere in Northampton that people like Jim of Nohodome talk about but that has eluded me when I go over there. Sometimes I do get a sensation of being in some Scandinavian village in the dead of winter when it seems more bone-chilling cold in Northampton than it ever does in Amherst or than I remember in Pittsfield. I could see you doing an exhibit of the Valley at night.

Remember last summer the local business owners in Northampton were complaining of a downturn in business..? I'm not sure why. Maybe their not buying as much, but the foot traffic certainly has been stronger than ever.

Nothing ever feels warmer than your own hometown. When I'm out on the bike, I swear I feel a temp change whenever I get back in my hometown area...

I caught the very last minute of that projection show. We must have been up there at the same time. That is coincidental. I didnt have my camera with me Fri night, I was very disappointed. But thank you for posting a photo of the tree lit up. I thought it was a rather beautifully dreary night.
