Weekend Hopeful

Some pics to wrap up the work week...

Mighty Mt. Tom rises alone in the distance, towering even above far away fields in Southampton.

A Boston Road Sunset on Monday. Beauty trumps business.

Another sweltering heat wave this week, but the roofing must go on in Northampton...

Imagine having to spend the work day, or work week for that matter, up here.

I feel their pain. In my job, I spend a lot of time on roofs. Those broad, flat, commercial building roofs mostly. To understate things; it can get hot; in the summer I refer to such roofs as the Devil's Patio. Especially on a week like this one. But I rarely spend more than a few hours on any one, at any time. But man, those roofer guys are going to be up there every day, all day long, for some time yet to come...

Finally, the heat boils over into a near storm, roiling the clouds up this afternoon...

But no rain. That's ok, it would only have thrown water on the coals, in the sauna the valley has become. The boiling is supposed to continue on into this weekend, so get ready...

Hopefully, I'll be able to find a cooler place for myself this weekend; A few of us are poised to take a field trip to a watery destination, starting bright and early Saturday. Coverage to follow, you can bet your flip flops...

Speaking of coverage, Governor Patrick was in the area yesterday, visiting Amherst and Holyoke. Here's some local blogger takes on it; from Larry Kelley, Rambling Van Dog, and Mike Dobbs, in case you missed it...

Thanks for the link Tony. I like the sun setting behind citgo, it seems rather fitting in the current economy.

And just a few miles north of you, we got a pretty strong thunderstorm in Amherst, enough to make the power flicker on and off for a few minutes.

Your comments on working in this heat remind me of the times I've helped my parents bail hay and stack it in the barn, exactly in this kind of weather. Ugh.
