Hot Rods And Other Hazards

Here's a couple of recent visuals from the wide open road:

Firstly, when you see someone weaving all over the lanes, don't automatically assume he's drunk.

He could just be catching up with the afternoon news.

I wonder if Kindle will have a mobile solution for this; maybe an in-dash reader...

Second, you know it's hot outside when automobiles spontaneously combust. I pulled over for a look just as this car was getting ready to really light up.

State troopers were quickly on the scene, one speedily backing down the highway from I don't know how far away...

They quickly blocked off oncoming traffic at a safe distance, leaving me on my own in front of the conflagration.

No one appeared to be hurt, except maybe the car owner's insurance premiums, so the camera happily clicked away at the cool scene from a safe distance. As the staties took care of business with the 'hot rod's owner and the developing traffic jam, one kept glancing over, and I got the feeling he was going to say something...

Sure enough he did. First he waved his arms as if to say 'keep moving'. I waved back signaling message received, but just a couple more pics before going. The state trooper then got into his car, and bellowed over the loudspeaker "You. Move On."

Moving on.

...At least the highway was completely traffic-free for several miles ahead...

Good thing you were on the right side of that road block! It could have been awhile before they let you pass.
I've seen drivers do alot of stupid things, but reading a news paper is a first! Nice job on the pics.

Great pics! You're always getting into trouble taking photos. That's a good sign -- you're brave! I wish I weren't so timid.

Thanks guys. This new texting while driving problem is just the tip of the iceberg; I recently saw a lady putting on eyeliner at 50mph...and then another time there was a blogger taking pict...er, never mind...

About the Fire, softly playing in the background was "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"!
And after 23 years of Trucking, I have seen things being done that I thought were impossible while driving. And XXX rated too!
The Toll Collectors are the ones that see it all. Many drivers just don't care who sees. Larry

Yikes! -- that's my first comment.
Second, I can hardly believe the things people will do while driving down the road. Amazing.
