The Longest Day

Happy Summer Solstice.

The longest day of the year has come. A brilliant day mostly, though unsettled and shedding a little rain during the late afternoon,

I had to get some stuff done at home so I missed the solstice sunset, but I rounded up the dog afterwards, and we went for a ride, heading out about 8:45. There were still traces of color in the sky...

A little fog was rising, as cattle, horses and donkeys ate their meals late into the evening...

At nine p.m. the twilight sky was still mostly blue...

Then the full moon took over, when the sun's effects had finally disappeared...it's pale light ushering in the new season...

A beautiful evening...at the official start of Summer...

Couldn't see the darned moon here last night for the clouds.

But for the shower yesterday afternoon, it was a pretty spectacular day.
