Six Degrees Of Persperation

The Farmer In the Kell,
The Farmer In the Kell,
Hi-Ho The Merry-o,
The Farmer In the Kell.

Over 100 blazing sticky degrees on Monday... Tuesday was also a blast furnace...

Hopefully, Tuesday evening will be the last of the uber-hot weather, (if the weather people are right)...Maybe these incoming clouds from the west will bring relief...

Life and work goes on, like these South End Beautification Program workers in Springfield, diligently cleaning up the streets in the suffocating heat.

Speaking of heat, check out the scenes of a huge fire that had to be put out in Holyoke, in the muggyness of Monday night, courtesy of VanDog.

The last of the basketball players have faded away from the old Hall of Fame. They've been covered in bright shades of yellow, for the new L.A. Fitness.

Out with the old, in with the new.

In Connecticut on Sunday:

Later in the day I saw a few pumps even higher. It's at five bucks for super on this pump. On the roads, I still haven't noticed an appreciable change in the driving habits or number of vehicles driving around. From what I've seen the roads are still crammed, and every one's still in a hurry. I suspect it will get up to about six bucks for regular, before the you-know-what hits the fan.

In the meantime, I'm appreciating the 45+mpg I can get on my old motorcycle. With a big back-pack and some bungees, I can do most errands, and save many gas dollars while I'm at it. I firmly believe everyone should have a motorcycle or a scooter as a second vehicle, to compliment their two ton, five to seven seat cars. Insurance is cheaper, no problems parking or passing...Really it's only flaw is being at the mercy of the weather. It's also a great way to take in the scenery...

Cook Farms in Hadley is serving up ice cream right from the farm. The cows are mooing right nearby, and you can eyeball each other, as you savor one of their colder products from a cone...

This vehicle was parked squarely upon that fine line between cute and corny...

A brief Honorable Mention: I have bought several recycled ink cartridges from Ink Solutions in Northampton, and they've always worked fine. Until I recently bought one that didn't. But, I brought it back to them the other day, and they not only quickly and politely replaced it, they gave me a 15% discount on my next purchase...Now that's how you keep customers....

Thanks for the link Tony,

Like you - I also have an affinity for our New England summer heat, but the radiation from the Parsons fire has given me pause. At one point during the fire I had to check that my camcorder did not exceed its maximum operating temperature.
