I don't know if that's a deformed 6 or 8, but either way...
Here are some pics from my travels about this frozen wasteland the past couple days:
Here's an oft-bloggified flag, waving above the Big Y in Amherst.
I know Larry Kelley, and I think Tom Devine among others, have blogged about it, . How can you not? It's so BIG and BOLD. (notice the UPS & FedEx trucks below it, for comparison).
This sparrow hugged a sun-soaked brick wall, for a little heat.
A green house in Amherst. It'd be ironic if it was also actually a 'green' house; as in the save-us-from-ourselves sense. It is Amherst, after all.
The latest two back-to-back snow falls, followed by the frigid, virtually windless temps, allowed the snow to remain on the trees, tracing out the branches in white.
Meanwhile the evergreens keep thick patches of snow on them.
It's been a while since we've had such a pretty winter.
Just one more day of this artic blast, and the temps are supposed to swing back up a little for the weekend. I hope so, I'm itching to get out, and really enjoy the winter wonderland.

Yeah, when Big-Y first opened the town gave them so much grief about a freaken flagpole that they went with the BIGGEST flag the pole would support.
Big-Y also wanted to imbed the Amherst Town Seal on the floor inside the store to show how some of the store is in Amherst and some in Hadley. Amherst refused permission because they didn't want common folks walking on the town seal.
Remarkable little town, Amherst.
It's fun taking your Amherst tour; I don't recall seeing that green house, but I live right down the street from Big Y and have written about seeing the flag waving against the sunset as we've headed home on the rail trail extension on University Drive. Love the brave little sparrow.
